About the Author

Jerzy Adam Kowalski was born in 1958. In the years 1977 to 1984 he studied political science, journalism, and psychology at Warsaw University. In 1980 he reached the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Award from the Scientific Secretary of the Polish Academy of Sciences.


In 1975-77 he was a journalist, from 1984 to 1990 he was manager in a few companies, then he was a publisher, editor, journalist. Since 2008 he is the head of administration of the Institute of Sexual Research in Opole, Poland, and is a researcher and popular science author.

Now the author is completing his Ph.D. dissertation. The 1st part of it, entitled "The sex-partner roles in homosexual behavior: an attempt of classification" was accepted by the "Journal of Homosexuality" and is now in print. The 2nd part, "Revisiting the Blanchard theory of autogynephilia: a new perspective" was lately submitted to a journal.

 Interests, hobbies

The author is particularly interested in sexual anthropology, history, and archeology. His additional interests are herbal and natural medicine, and art photography. Among sports, he prefers tennis and football; in the years 1979-1980 he was a soccer referee in Warsaw Regional Footbol Assossiation.
